2012 HERE I COME

Today is my first day back to reality (work). You know, it wasn't so bad. I think there was a desire to see my kids after 2 weeks of them not getting under my skin =)
I'm working on being a better mentor this year to my kids. Last year, I really didnt understand why kids came to me so much. Now I understand that there is a longing to be heard. I hope to find a way to reach my students this year as more than a teacher, but as a motivator.

I'm sick.... AGAIN

I don't know how many vitamins I take, but it doesn't matter because I'm always getting sick. I've tried EVERYTHING! Vitamin C, iron, thera flu, EVERYTHING and nothing seems to work. I work with kids all day and try to ensure that I wash my hands always. Somehow it seems that about every 3 weeks I have a runny nose.... Any suggestions =(
However, I am thrilled because I only have one more day until christmas break!!!! OMG!

Coaching Aint Easy

How hard is it to motivate 20 teenage girls? Hard as HECK! Though I love the sport of cheerleading, it's hard being on the other end of it. A Coach has to be a motivator, doctor, psychiatrist, lawyer, punching bag, mother, sister, friend, provider, and so much more. I enjoy what I do, trust me, but I also have days when I don't know what to do with these girls. Some how, I always find a way to be there for them. At the end of the day, it's ALL worth it. Right now, we are preparing for a competition that we are expected to drop out of. We've worked to hard! I'm amazed at how motivated the girls are just because I am.
My team doesn't look like every one else's in the county..... We are truly diverse. We have boys (straight boys) who are African American, Latinas, and Caucasians. I teach my team the value of working together to beat the odds..... That's what I love. Showing and demonstrating the need for hard work, acceptance, and multiculturalism. I just want others to do the same.
